[origin: US4257348A] Disclosed is a device for measuring the concentration of toner in a developer mixture composed of toner and a ferromagnetic carrier material, e.g., in an electro-photographic developing device. The device comprises a measuring oscillator which comprises an inductance-including component comprising at least one coil wherein the conductor paths of the coil lie substantially in one plane; means for passing at least a portion of the developer mixture into the zone of the inductance; and means for evaluating changes in the frequency of the oscillator resulting from changes in the developer mixture composition passing over the zone of inductance. Also disclosed is an electro-photographic copying apparatus embodying the foregoing device.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Vorrichtung zur Messung der Tonerkonzentration eines Entwicklergemisches. Ein Bauteil (5;21) trägt zumindest eine platinenförmige Spule (6) bzw. eine Anzahl von platinenförmigen Spulen (6,6',6",...), deren sämtliche Leiterbahnen (22) in einer Ebene liegen. Die Spule bzw. die Spulen des Bauteils bilden die Induktivität eines Meßoszillators (34) und sind im Entwicklergemisch-Strom angeordnet, der von der fotoleitfähigen Oberfläche einer Trommel (2) herabrieselt, auf der ein latentes Ladungsbild mit dem Entwicklergemisch in ein Pulverbild entwickelt wird. Die Leiterbahen der Spulen sind rechteckoder spiralförmig angeordnet und können mit einem elektrisch isolierenden, transparenten Material (27) vergossen sein. Die Spulen sind des weiteren in einer Matrix (41) elektrisch zusammengeschaltet und auf beiden Seiten eines auf dem Bauteil (21) befestigten Streifens (39) angeordnet.
