[origin: EP0000138A1] The invention relates to a multiple spindle machine tool having a toolhead transfer mechanism. <??>A rotary toolhead changer arm (58) is provided for transferring toolheads (42) from a toolhead magazine (48) to the toolhead driver (30) of the machine tool and vice versa. <??>The toolhead changer arm (58) is mounted on the machine for rotation about an axis which is inclined at an angle of 45 DEG to the Z axis. The toolhead changer arm (58) has two diametrically opposed ends which are each inclined at an angle of 45 DEG to the rotary axis of the toolhead changer arm (58). Clamps are mounted on both ends of the toolhead changer arm (58) for clamping toolheads (42) thereto. <??>Toolhead shifter means (62) is provided for shifting toolhead (42) between the toolhead magazine (48) and the toolhead changer arm (58) and vice versa.
