The polycarbonates are thermoplastic aromatic polycarbonates based on diphenols which are characterised in that they contain, in condensed form, between 0.5 and 5 mol-%, preferably between 1 and 3 mol-%, based on the total molar amount of condensed, aromatic hydroxyl compounds, of aromatic hydroxyketones. The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of these polycarbonates and to the modification of these polycarbonates.

Gegenstand der vorliegenden Erfindung sind thermoplastische aromatische Polycarbonate auf Basis von Diphenolen, die dadurch gekennzeichnet sind, daß sie zwischen 0,5 bis 5 Mol-%, vorzugsweise zwischen 1 und 3 Mol-%, bezogen auf die Gesamtmolmenge an einkondensierten, aromatischen Hydroxyverbindungen, aromatische Hydroxyketone einkondensiert enthalten. Ein weiterer Gegenstand der Erfindung ist ein Verfahren zur Herstellung dieser Polycarbonate sowie zur Modifizierung dieser Polycarbonate.
