Bei einem elektrisch beheizten Bratofen (1) mit Unter- und Oberbeheizung (3 bzw. 4) und mit einer integrierten Mikrowelleneinrichtung (2) ist zum Zwecke einer Verkürzung der Garzeit und Verbesserung der Qualität des Gargutes im Bratofen (1) ein unabhängig von der Unter- und Oberbeheizung (3 bzw. 4) steuerbarer Zusatzheizkörper (5) angeordnet, der mit Einschalten der aus Unter- und Oberbeheizung (3, 4) bestehenden Bratofenbeheizung und/oder Einschalten der Mikrowelleneinrichtung (2) zuschaltbar ist und der nach Erreichen einer bestimmten Temperatur im Bratraum des Bratofens (1) über einen fest eingestellten Temperaturschalter (9) abschaltbar ist. Die Zuschaltung des Zusatzheizkörpers (5) erfolgt über ein Relais oder ein ähnliches Schaltmittel.
