[origin: US4219327A] An apparatus for fusion fixing thermoplastic toner images on an image carrier by use of heat and pressure, comprising a heatable fixing roller comprising a first extension tube, a first cylindrical cover surrounding the first extension tube and being comprised of an elastic, heat- and permanent deformation-resistant material, and a first tubular sleeve pulled over the first cylindrical cover, with the first tubular sleeve having a polytetrafluoroethylene surface; a pressure roller mounted adjacent to the fixing roller, the pressure roller comprising a second extension tube, a second cylindrical cover surrounding the second extension tube and being comprised of an elastic, heat- and permanent deformation-resistant material, and a second tubular sleeve pulled over the second cylindrical cover; an apparatus for selectively engaging and disengaging the pressure roller against the fixing roller; and an arrangement for driving the pressure roller and the fixing roller at the same speed when the rollers are engaged, whereby the image carrier material is transported between the rollers without blurring the images thereon.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Wärme-Druck-Schmelzfixiereinrichtung (1) zum Fixieren von Tonerbildern. Hierzu weist die Einrichtung eine beheizbare Fixierrolle (56) mit einer Oberfläche aus Polytetrafluoräthylen, eine Andruckrolle (50), eine Andruck- und Reinigungsvorrichtung (40), eine Benetzungseinrichtung (22) und eine Heizkammer (60) auf. Die Fixierrolle (56) und die Andruckrolle (50) bestehen jeweils aus einem Aufsteckrohr (54), einem Überzug (53) und einer Hülse (52), die übereinander geschoben sind. Das Aufsteckrohr (54) der Fixierrolle (56) sitzt auf einer Antriebswelle (55) auf, die Reibräder (67) trägt, die mit entsprechenden Reibrädern (69) auf der Welle (74) der beigestellten Andruckrolle (50) im Eingriff stehen, um diese mit der Umfangsgeschwindigkeit der Fixierrolle (56) mitzunehmen. Die Reibräder (67, 69) sind mit Überholkupplungen (72) verbunden, die auf der Antriebswelle (55) bzw. der Welle (74) aufsitzen.
