Fire-proof cladding for elongate steel structural parts (1), such as steel girders, steel columns and the like, with a box-shaped enclosure which is composed of non-combustible or not easily ignitable panels (5, 8), cladding parts (3, 4) made of non-combustible or not easily ignitable material being located between this enclosure and the steel structural part (1) at points distributed over the longitudinal extension of the latter, characterized in that at least some of the panels (5, 8) of the enclosure which face the fire have regions of reduced cross-section, which run transversely to the longitudinal extension of the steel structural part and which serve as predetermined braking points, and in that, between each of these predetermined breaking points and the surface of the steel structural part, one of the cladding parts (3, 4) made of non-combustible or not easily ignitable material is arranged so as to lie with its surface, as a backing, on the inside of the panels (5, 8).
