The car polish drying agent consists of 30 - 90% by weight of a quaternary ammonium compound of the formulae <IMAGE> in which R1 and R2 are C8-C20 alkyl or alkenyl, R3 and R4 are, identically or independently of one another, C1-C4-alkyl or hydroxyalkyl, n is 2 or 3 and X is an anion, and 15-70, preferably 15- 40, % by weight of a C8-C20 alkanol or alkenol or of a C8-C20-carboxylic acid C1-C4-alkyl ester.

Autoglanztrocknungsmittel bestehend aus 30 - 90 Gew.-% einer quaternären Ammoniumverbindung der Formeln <IMAGE> worin R1 und R2 C8-C20 Alkyl oder Alkenyl, R3 und R4 gleich oder unabhängig voneinander C1-C4-Alkyl oder Hydroxyalkyl, n 2 oder 3 und X ein Anion bedeutet und 15 - 70, vorzugsweise 15 - 40 Gew.-% eines C8-C20 Alkanols oder Alkenols oder eines C8-C20-Carbonsäure-C1-C4-alkylesters.
