[origin: EP0004926A2] In a panel saw having upright frame 1, when dividing the panel 10 into the desired finished sizes 22, the panel is firstly tightly held at its top edge by clamping jaws 17 and is then divided by a horizontal cut 19 of the circular saw 7 into an upper strip 20 and a lower strip 21. The upper strip 20 is then raised by a certain amount so that the lower strip 21 can be sawed to the finished sizes 22 by vertical cuts 23 of the circular saw 7, without the bottom edge 24 of the upper strip 20 being damaged. A simple and efficient way of dividing panels into any desired finished sizes is thus possible. <IMAGE>
