1. Feed mechanism for a label-supporting web or strip which, withdrawn from a supply reel, is pulled step-wise by an intermittent drive through a delivery station for the labels and is wound on to a take-up shaft, characterised in that a suction box (13) operative on an accumulated loop (12) of the supporting strip (4) is arranged between the supply reel (2) and the delivery station, that a drive means (5, 10) arranged before the suction box (13) in the feeding direction conveys the supporting strip (4) from the supply reel (2) into the suction box (13), that the suction box (13) encloses an elongated internal chamber (20, 21), one end surface of which is open for accommodating the accumulated loop (12, 18), while the other end surface is closed by an apertured plate (22), through which the vacuum is operative on the internal chamber (20, 21), that the effective width of the suction box (14) is capable of being adapted to the width of the supporting strip (4) by at least one internal plate (27, 28) displaceable transversely of the feeding direction of the supporting strip (4), and that a cover device (30, 31) is provided for covering those sections of the apertured plate (22) which are outside the width of the supporting strip.

Es wird eine Vorschubvorrichtung für eine Etiketten-Trägerbahn (4) beschrieben, die von einer Vorratsrolle (2) nach Durchlaufen einer Speicherschlaufe (12) von einem intermittierenden Antrieb (17) schrittweise durch eine Abgabestation für Etiketten gezogen und dann auf eine Aufnahmewelle (3) aufgewickelt wird. Um das paßgenaue Etikettieren auch bei großen Vorratsmengen von in Transportrichtung schmalen Etiketten zu gewährleisten, ist zwischen der Vorratsrolle (2) und der Abgabestation ein auf die Speicherschlaufe (12) der Trägerbahn (4) wirkender Saugkasten (13) und in Vorschubrichtung vor dem Saugkasten (13) ein Antrieb (5, 10) angeordnet, der die Trägerbahn (4) von der Vorratsrolle (2) in den Saugkasten (13) fördert. Dadurch ist eine Entkopplung des Schrittvorschubs von der Bewegung der Vorratsrolle verwirklicht.
