1. Apparatus for clamping sheets (10) of various lengths onto a rotating drum (14) of the type including : first clamping means (18) mounted on said drum and rotatable therewith for clamping the leading edge of a given sheet onto said drum, and second clamping means (50) which can be set either in an active position or in a rest position, and adjusted with respect of said first means in accordance with the lenght of the sheets, for clamping the trailing edge of said sheet onto said drum when said sheet has been completely wound up around said drum, characterized in that it includes : sensing means (41) for detecting that said sheet is completely wound up around said drum and generating a sense signal in response thereto, clutch means for coupling or uncoupling, as required, said second clamping means for rotation with said drum, and control means (31) connected to said sensing means, responsive to said sense signal for setting said second clamping means and said clutch means in the active position to couple said second clamping means for rotation with said drum.

La présente invention permet de fixer automatiquement les deux extrémités d'une feuille sur un tambour, quelle que soit la longueur de la feuille. Le bord avant de la feuille (12) est d'abord fixé par les attaches (18) dont le support est solidaire du tambour (14). Pendant l'enroulement de la feuille (12) sur le tambour (14) l'attache (50) de bord arrière est en position inactive. Un détecteur détectant le passage du bord arrière de la feuille (12) commande le basculement du bras (30) en arrière. Le secteur denté (34) porté par le flasque (26) engrène avec la roue (38), ce qui solidarise ces deux pièces en rotation. En même temps, la plaque (44) pivote et fait basculer l'attache (50) en position active grâce au système de pignons (42, 46). La plaque (44) étant montée sur le flasque (26), tourne alors avec le tambour (14), ainsi que l'attache (50).
