Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0007465A1] 1. Cladding for furnaces more particularly for high temperature industrial furnaces, having mats arranged one on top of another in several layers in parallel with the wall (11) of the furnace (10) and comprising temperature-resistant material, in which the layers (15) form an outer layer and several inner layers, the outer layer delimiting the inner chamber of the furnace (10), having mountings which penetrate the layers (15) and are fixed to the wall (11) of the furnace and are in the form of pins (12), each having a retaining member (18) which is placed on to a respective pin (12), and penetrates the outer layer and at least the adjacent inner layer, there being an annular flange (21) on the retaining member (18), said annular flange engaging the furnace side of the outer layer, and there being an inner chamber formed in the retaining member and accessible from the furnace side (10), the pin entering the retaining member (18) through a bore at the end of the inner chamber and being secured with the aid of a retaining element (16) to prevent the pin from leaving the bore, the part of the pin (12) projecting into the inner chamber extending initially approximately to the level of the outer layer and the inner chamber of the retaining member (18) containing insulating material (20) characterized in that the part (13, 23) of the pin (12) projecting into the inner chamber and no longer required for fixing once the assembly is complete is connected to the said pin (12) by means of a desired breaking point (14).
