Driving device for a slidable panel (PC) of an automobile vehicle comprising two guideways (2) which are rigid with the part of the body (P) of the vehicle receiving the movable panel (PC) and in which guideways are engaged the respective lateral edges of the slidable panel, and a motor device comprising, on one hand, a plate (3, 3B, 3C) on which is mounted a motor (5) and, on the other hand, meshing elements which transmit, through coupling means, the motion of the motor (5) to a third edge of the slidable panel, characterized in that said plate (3, 3B, 3C) is mounted on said part of the body (P) to pivot about a fixed axis (4, 4B, 4C) which is roughly perpendicular to the sliding plane of the slidable panel (PC) so that it constitutes itself means for transmitting said motion, and said plate (3, 3B, 3C) carries a slide (10) which is engaged in a slideway (11) fixed to said third edge of the slidable panel (PC).
