The indicating and operating mechanism for electrical appliances having a program-controlled sequence, especially for domestic appliances like a dishwasher, use a transparent insulating panel (1), for example a glass plate, on which, adjacent to transparent sensor fields (2, 3, 4) for controlling the appliance, letter and symbol fields (10, 11) and/or electrically drivable display fields (8, 15-19, 20), for example LCD or LED areas, are arranged and/or are placed behind the sensor fields (2, 3, 4). Die Anzeige- und Bedienungseinheit für elektrische Geräte mit einem programmgesteuerten Ablauf, insbesondere für Haushaltgeräte wie Geschirrspüler, macht von einer transparenten Isolierplatte (1), z.B. einer Glasplatte, Gebrauch, auf der neben transparenten Sensorfeldern (2, 3, 4) für die Steuerung des Gerätes Schrift- und Symbolfelder (10, 11) und/oder elektrisch ansteuerbare Displayfelder (8, 15-19, 20), z.B. LCD- oder LED-Flächen, angeordnet und/oder den Sensorfeldern (2, 3, 4) hinterlegt sind. Damit ergibt sich eine Einheit, die alle Steuer- und Anzeigefunktionen in sich vereinigt.
