A card index device, in particular an alphabetical telephone index, consisting of a housing and a drawer which is pushed into said housing and springs out automatically with the desired index card lying at the top of a pile after depression of one of the selection levers projecting with its operating end through holes in the front part of the housing and release, thereby effected, of a latching mechanism under the effect of a spring, in which drawer carriers are arranged for the index cards. With a card index device of this type, the intention is that, with relatively simple means, the index card lying at the top, with the drawer automatically springing out of the housing after depression of a selection key, is guided out securely and lying flat by carriers in the drawer, that it can be read and, if appropriate, can be exchanged in a simple manner for a new card. The object is achieved by a row of selection levers (7) which are mounted in a swivelling manner centrally in the housing (2), of which levers the end (9) opposite the operating end (6) is constructed so as to be hooked, so as to raise the pile of cards lying above the desired card (4) when pressure is applied to the operating end (6), so as to introduce the pile of cards with the holes (12) provided at the end portion of the cards (4) into teeth (13) which hang down from the lid of the housing (2) and penetrate a hole (14) in the selection lever (7), and so as to release the latching mechanism (17, 18, 19) which holds the drawer (3) in the housing (2). <IMAGE>

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Merkblattregister, insbesondere alphabetisches Telefonregister, bestehend aus einem Gehäuse und einer in diesem eingeschobenen, nach Drücken eines der mit ihrem Betätigungsende durch Löcher im vorderen Teil des Gehäuses herausragenden Wahlhebeln und dadurch bewirktes Lösen eines Klinkensperrmechanismusses under der Wirkung einer Feder mit der gewünschten zu oberst auf einem Stapel liegenden Registerkarte selbsttätig herausspringenden Schublade, in der Mitnehmer für die Registerkarten angeordnet sind. Bei einem solchen merkblattregister soll mit verhältnismäßig einfachen Mitteln erreicht werden, daß die nach Drücken einer Wahltaste mit der selbsttätig aus dem Gehäuse herausspringenden Schublade zu oberst liegende Registerkarte durch Mitnehmer in der Schublade sicher und eiben liegend herausgeführt wird, abgelesen und ggf. in einfacher Weise gegen eine neue Karte ausgetauscht werden kann. Die Lösung besteht in einer Reihe von mittig im Gehäuse (2) schwenkbar gelagerten Wahlhebeln (7), deren dem Betätigungsende (6) entgegengesetztes Ende (9) hakenförmig, bei Druck auf das Betätigungsende (6) den über der gewünschten karte (4) liegenden Kartenstapel anhebend, mit den am Endabschnitt der karten (4) vorgesehenen Löchern (12) in vom Deckel des Gehäuses (2) herabhängenden, durch ein Loch (14) in dem Wahlhebel (7) hindurchgreifenden Zinken (13) einführend und den die Schublade (3) in dem Gehäuse (2) festhaltenden Klinkensperrmechanismus (17, 18, 19) auslösend, ausgebildet ist.
