[origin: US4296613A] In order to increase the space utilization and the efficiency of refrigeration in absorption refrigerators a finned body is placed about the evaporator. This finned body consists of a base plate and of cooling fins connected therewith. The base plate lies parallel to a wall of the refrigerator and has a convexly curved section directed toward the space to be refrigerated, into which fits the horizontal or slightly inclined evaporator tube of the refrigeration unit. Above and or below the curved section, cooling fins are connected with the base plate in heat-conductive relation to extend into the space to be refrigerated. The configuration of the ribbed body favors convective heat transfer. Also, the evaporator tube does not require additional space or depth, because it lies within the finned body cross section.

Um bei Absorptionskühlmöbeln die Raumausnutzung zu verbessern und die Wirksamkeit der Kuhlung zu erhöhen, wird eine besondere Gestaltung des Verdampfer-Rippenkörpers (20) vorgeschlagen, der aus einer Grundplatte (22) und aus damit verbundenen Kühlrippen (23) besteht. Die Grundplatte liegt parallel zu einer Wand des Kühlmöbels (1) und weist eine gegen den zu kühlenden Raum (3) gerichtete -Ausbuchtung (21) auf, in welche das horizontal oder leicht geneigt verlaufende Verdampferrohr (17) des Kühlaggregates (1o) hineinpaßt. Oberhalb und/oder unterhalb der Ausbuchtung (21) ragen mit der Grundplatte wärmeleitend verbundene Kühlrippen in den zu kühlenden Raum. Eine solche Formgebung des Rippenkörpers begünstigt den konvektiven Wärmeübergang. Ferner benötigt bei solcher Gestaltung das Verdampferrohr keinen zusätzlichen Raum bzw. Tiefe, weil es innerhalb des Rippenkörperquerschnittes liegt.
