A method of shifting a moving unit from a first position to a second position by means of a stepping motor driven by a finite sequence of pulses, said moving unit being liable to oscillate about its equilibrium point, characterized in that as a function of the period and of the damping factor of the oscillation, the time intervals which separate said pulses are chosen so that the last pulse is applied to the motor at an instant when the oscillation resulting from the set of preceding pulses brings the moving unit substantially to the required final position and reduces its speed substantially to zero. It applies in particular to disc-type printers.

L'invention entre dans le domaine de la commande. Procédé de positionnement d'un mobile (1) d'une première position à une seconde position à l'aide d'un moteur pas-à-pas (3) commandé par une suite finie d'impulsions ledit mobile étant, susceptible d'oscillations autour de son point d'équilibre, caractérisé en ce que les intervalles de temps pseudopériode et de l'amortissement de l'oscillation de telle séparant lesdites impulsions sont choisis en fonction de la fa?n que la dernière impulsion soit appliquée au moteur à un moment où l'oscillation consécutive à l'ensemble des impulsions précédentes amène le mobile sensiblement à la position finale souhaitée et avec une vitesse sensiblement nulle. S'applique en particulier aux imprimantes à tambour.
