Apparatus for the delivery of sheets of paper of predetermined length having a device actuable by pulling on an end of the paper web for partially separating the sheets of paper from the paper web (5) rolled up on a roller (4) and for making the next end of the paper web available for gripping after removal of the separated sheet of paper, which has a roller (7) with a knife (9) movable eccentrically with respect to the roller axis (10) and having a cutting edge (14) effecting the partial separation of the sheets of paper from the paper web (5) rolled up on the roller (4), characterised in that the device which is actuable by pulling on an end of the paper web has a device for temporarily locking the roller (7) which comprises a cam (24) arranged secured against rotation on the end surface of the roller and an abutment (25) and additionally a two-armed lever (17) mounted on a portion (15) of the housing, and that an end (18) of the lever (17) is connected to a tension spring (19) and the other end (20) of the lever (17) is movable into engagement with the cam (24) and abutment (25).
