An electromagnetic tilting armature relay having one or more throw-over contacts, in which respect the central contact is held by spring force in the open position, and is moved by an armature-actuated tappet into the closed position, in which respect each central contact consists of the combination of a stationary contact lever with a contact lever mounted swingably thereon and in which respect a tension spring extending approximately in the direction of the contact plane is fastened on the one hand to the end of the contact carrier remote from the contacting and on the other hand to the movable contact lever in the vicinity of the double contact rivet, characterised in that the contact lever (2) is supported on both sides in knife-edge bearings (16 to 19) and the tension spring (5) draws the contact lever (2) into its knife-edge bearing (16, 17) and at the same time serves for the transfer of the actuating force, in which respect the actuation of the contact lever (2) is effected through the tappet (9) pressing directly on the tension spring (5), after the lifting-off of which tappet (9) the contact lever (2) snaps back.
