Closure device for heat exchangers of a coke treatment installation, comprising an enclosure (20) which serves to accomodate incandescent coke coming from a battery of coke furnaces and which is provided with an upper aperture (24) for the introduction of incandescent coke and a lower aperture for the recuperation of cooled coke, with means by which a fluid for the recuperation of a major portion of the quantity of heat accumulated in the coke is caused to pass through the said enclosure, and with a hopper (26) which is intermittently supplied with the coke via a transport device, known per se, and of which the base is in communication with the aforementioned upper aperture, characterized by a hermetic box (42) forming a hood for the base of the hopper (26) and the said upper aperture (24), by a pivotable and slidable flap (44) comprising a sliding damper of the "goggle valve" type, known per se, and supported by two rails (50, 52), by a shaft (72) passing through the said box and connected, outside the latter, to a driving motor (88), by means for converting the rotary movement of the shaft into a traversing movement of the damper (46), and by means for pivoting the rails (50, 52) about an axis perpendicular to these latter.
