[origin: US4296873A] An automatic vending arrangement in which newspapers are horizontally supported on a support table. The table with a set of pulleys has a spring exert a force on the pulley in an upward direction. A sensor on a pivot arm has a pin extend into a sprocket wheel of a chain pulley through the lifting of the table so as to arrest the latter at that height. Manipulation of a handgrip causes the uppermost newspaper to pivot about the support point of the sensor to project out of a dispensing slot so as to be grasped and pulled out by a customer.
