[origin: US4321449A] An apparatus for heating blooms or slabs comprises a tunnel with a conveyor for supporting successive slabs and moving them along the length of the tunnel. The blooms rest flat on the conveyor rather than on edge. Polyphased inductors are located above and under the path of the bloom to create a travelling wave magnetic field along the tunnel.
