[origin: ES488597A1] An improved paper-coating composition which contains, per 100 parts by weight of a finely divided pigment, from 5 to 25 parts by weight of a copolymer A, in the form of an aqueous dispersion, as a binder, and from 0.5 to 10 parts by weight of a copolymer B, containing (a) from 20 to 70% by weight of copolymerized units of hydroxy-C2-C4-alkyl acrylates or hydroxy-C2-C4-alkyl methacrylates, (b) from 10 to 50% by weight of copolymerized units of acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, maleic acid and/or monoesters of maleic acid and (c) from 5 to 50% by weight of copolymerized units of acrylonitrile, methacrylonitrile, C1-C4-alkyl acrylates of C1-C4-alkyl methacrylates, or vinyl esters of saturated C2-C4-carboxylic acids as the co-binder, with or without from 0.1 to 2.0 parts by weight of an optical brightener which is activated by the co-binder. The paper-coating composition has high water retention.

Die Erfindung betrifft Papierstreichmassen, die auf 100 Gew.-Teile eines feinteiligen Pigments 5 bis 25 Gew.- Teile eines Copolymerisates A mit einer Glastemperatur von bis +50°C in Form von wäßrigen Dispersionen, 0,5 bis 10 Gew.-Teile mindestens eines Copolymerisates B aus einem hochmolekularen, carboxylgruppen-aufweisenden Copolymerisat und gegebenenfalls 0,1 bis 2 Gew.-Teile eines optischen Aufhellers enthalten, bei denen das Copolymerisat B als charakteristische Monomereneinheiten a) 20 bis 70 Gew.% Hydroxy-C2- bis C4-alkylacrylat oder -methacrylat, b) 10 bis 50 Gew.% Acrylsäure, Methacrylsäure, Maleinsaure und/oder Maleinsaurehalbester und c) 5 bis 50 Gew.% Acrylnitril, Methacrylnitril, Ester der Acrylsäure oder Methacrylsäure mit einwertigen C1-bis C4 -Alkoholen und Vinylester von gesättigten C1-bis C4 -Carbonsäuren enthält. Die Papierstreichmassen besitzen eine hohe Wasserretention. Die Copolymerisate B bewirken eine Aktivierung der optischen Aufheller.
