1. Automatic ammunition ramming home mechanism (12) : from an initial position outside the weapon (1) to a final position in the breech chamber (15) of a medium- or large-calibre weapon mounted on a cradle (1) and whose chamber contains an ammunition forcing cone (14), mechanism comprising a ramming device continually thrusting the ammunition as far as the forcing cone (14) including at least two means of ramming (16, 17) operating successively, the sum of the travels of each of the means of ramming (16, 17) being equal to the total ramming travel, the mechanism comprising, in combination with the means of ramming (16, 17), a means of feeding (18) the ammunition from the initial position on the side of the weapon to a second axial position behind the chamber of the weapon. The support for the means of ramming (16, 17) being formed of the means of feeding (18) comprising a loading tray (18) in through form elongated in the longitudinal direction of the weapon, mechanism characterized in that the loading tray (18) is secured to an arm (19) on which it can swivel around a pin (20) and mobile radially in relation to the longitudinal direction, the second means (17) of ramming being actuated by the loading tray, after rotating it and after implementing the first means (16) of ramming.
