A sailing vessel has a hull (1) and a mast (9) to which a triangular sail (21) is pivotably fastened. This pivotable fastening is achieved with an articulated body (41) which is fastened to the mast (9) in such a way as to be pivotable about a pivoting axis running at right angles to the longitudinal centre plane of the hull (1), one of the bars (31) which serve to spread out the sail (21) being mounted in articulated body (41) in such a way as to be pivotable about a pivoting axis, which bar (31) lies in the longitudinal centre plane (23) of the hull (1). Starting from a horizontal position in which it is symmetric with regard to the longitudinal centre plane (23) of the hull (1), the sail (21) can be pivoted into various inclined positions. As a result, the sail (21), in all course directions possible with regard to the wind, can be set in such a way that the wind exerts a force on the sail (21) which, in addition to a horizontal component, also has a component directed vertically upwards. <IMAGE>

Ein Segelschiff weist einen Rumpf (1) und einen Mast (9) auf, an dem ein dreieckförmiges Segel (21) verschwenkbar befestigt ist. Diese verschwenkbare Befestigung wird mit einem Gelenkkörper (41) erzielt, der um eine rechtwinklig zur Längsmittelebene des Rumpfes (1) verlaufende Schwenkachse verschwenkbar am Mast (9) befestigt ist, wobei eine der zum Aufspannen des Segels (21) dienenden Stangen (31) um eine Schwenkachse schwenkbar im Gelenkkörper (41) gelagert ist, die in der Längsmittelebene (23) des Rumpfes (1) liegt. Das Segel (21) kann ausgehend von einer horizontalen Lage, in der es bezüglich der Längsmittelebene (23) des Rumpfes (1) symmetrisch ist, in verschiedene geneigte Stellungen verschwenkt werden. Dabei kann das Segel (21) bei allen bezüglich des Windes möglichen Kursrichtungen derart eingestellt werden, dass der Wind auf das Segel (21) eine Kraft ausübt, die zusätzlich zu einer horizontalen Komponente auch eine vertikal nach oben gerichtete Komponente aufweist.
