Die Erfindung betrifft ein Ausdehnungsgefäß (1) für geschlossene Heizungs- und Kühlanlagen mit einem Gasraum (15) und einem demgegenüber von einer Membran (9) getrennten Wasserraum (14) und einer Einrichtung zur Messung eines Niedrig- und eines Höchstwasserstandes innerhalb des Gefäßes (1), wobei die Gefäßwände (4,5,6) von der Membran benetzungsfrei gehalten werden und die Einrichtung zur Messung des Wasserstandes über in den membranummantelten Wasserraum (14) eintauchende Hängeelektroden (117) und/oder über im Bereich der Behälterdome (5 bzw. 6) angeordnete, membranbetätigbare Schaltelemente (119,120 bzw. 217 bis 220) erfolgt.
