[origin: WO8000436A1] A method for de-salting sea water comprises the coupling of a multistage distillation plant to a cold production machine powered by a combustion engine. The heat released for the production of cold as well as the heat released by the combustion engine provide the thermal energy required for the vaporisation. The cold produced is used in a cold de-salting plant to separate water from the salt solution, before it is used for cooling and air-conditioning.

Le procede pour dessaler l'eau de mer utilise le couplage d'une installation de distillation a plusieurs etages a une machine de production de froid entrainee par un moteur a combustion. La chaleur degagee pour la production de froid ainsi que la chaleur degagee par le moteur a combustion produisent l'energie thermique necessaire pour la vaporisation. Le froid produit est utilise dans une installation de dessalage a froid pour separer l'eau de la solution de sel, avant d'etre utilise pour le refroidissement et la climatisation.
