A process for dyeing or printing and simultaneously finishing a textile, consisting of cellulose fibers, with a disperse dye in an aqueous medium in the presence of water-soluble swelling agents and dye solvents, and fixing the dye by heating the dyed or printed textile at up to 230 degrees C, wherein 1000 parts by weight of the liquor contain (a) from 5 to 150 parts by weight of a methylol compound and/or methylol-ether compound of urea, a cyclic urea, a carbamate or an aminotriazine as the finishing agent, or (b) from 30 to 300 parts by weight of a polyether which is obtained by reacting a polyethylene glycol, containing from 5 to 25 ethylene oxide units, with a methylol compound and/or methylol-ether compound of urea, a cyclic urea, a carbamate or an aminotriazine, as a finishing agent, swelling agent and dye solvent, and may or may not contain up to 50 parts by weight of an acid catalyst, or the textile is printed by first padding it with one of the liquors (a) or (b) and then subjecting it to an intermediate drying step, following which it is printed and the dye is fixed.
