Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0019107A1] 1. A glass edging machine for treating the edges of panes of glass, comprising a horizontal motor-driven turntable (12) with releasable clamping devices (28, 30), which operate automatically in dependence on the turntable movement for periodically securing the panes of glass (26), at least one peripheral grinding wheel mounted movably at the turntable periphery and controlled by a jig or the like, a loading and unloading device each horizontally supporting the glass panes for treatment and each consisting of a hoist (74, 90) constructed in the form of a trolley and guided on rails (66), which are supported by uprights (60, 82) and are disposed in parallel relationship above the feed and discharge tracks (19, 23), the turntable being disposed with its axis of rotation (10) situated in the longitudinal central plane of both the feed and the discharge track, both of which tracks are embodied in the form of belt conveyors (17, 19; 21, 23), the turntable having a conveying path in alignment with the feed and discharge tracks when the turntable is in the feed and discharge positions respectively, the clamping devices being disposed in the zone of said conveying path, characterised in that the rails (66) form a continuous track surmounting the turntable (12) and the two hoists (74, 90) are interconnected via a connecting rod (31), the length of which is adjustable according to the length of the glass panes (26) for treatment.
