1. Ribbon device for a printer having a print head movable normally in line direction parallel to the printing support and a ribbon cassette firmly arranged in the printer support and comprising two parts arranged on both sides of the printing position, characterized in that the two parts (14, 20) of the cassette (10) are connected to each other by means of a releasable coupling connection (56 to 59), that in the printer support a guide way (8, 9) extends over the whole width of the printing support into which the cassette (10) may be introduced, that the cassette is provided with guide parts (15, 16) corresponding to the guide way which allow for one of the cassette parts (14) to be slid along the guide way and away from the other cassette part (20) from a position of introduction into a working position at a certain distance of the other cassette part and that the two cassette parts (14, 20) are retained in the guide way by means of locking devices (29, 19) each.

Eine zweiteilige Farbbandkassette (10) wird im zusammengesteckten Zustande auf eine Gleitführung in einem Druckergestell (1) aufgesetzt und ein Teil (20) darin verrastet. Der andere Teil (14) wird auf der Gleitführung in eine andere seitliche Endlage verschoben und ebenfalls verrastet. Die dazugehörige Kassette (10) besitzt zur Gleitführung korrespondierende Führungsteile und jeder Kassettenteil (14, 20) umfaßt einen Funktionsraum für Funktionselemente (Farbband, Antrieb etc.) und einen Führungsraum bzw. -teil (24, 25), um das Farbband (31) unmittelbar vor die Druckunterlage (3) zu führen. In dem Raum zwischen den Funktionsräumen, der Druckunterlage (3) und den Führungsräumen (24, 25) ist der Druckkopf (5) fest oder beweglich angeordnet.
