[origin: WO8001086A1] Base fabric for use in producing a press felt on the batt-on-base type for a papermaking machine wherein a layer (11) of multifilament tow (12) is provided as an integral part of the base fabric and at that face thereof to which the batt (16) is to be applied, as by needling. In a preferred embodiment, the base fabric comprises a semi-duplex weave, and the multifilament tow (12) is provided as one of the two machine direction layers of such weave and defines one face of the resultant base fabric. There is also disclosed a press-felt embodying a base fabric as aforesaid and the method of making such press-felt.

Une etoffe de base pour la production d'un feutre presse du type "nappe sur base" pour une machine a fabriquer du papier, dans laquelle une couche (11) de cable a multi-filaments (12) est prevue en tant que partie integrante de l'etoffe de base et sur la face de laquelle la nappe (16) doit etre appliquee, comme par aiguilletage. Dans une mise en oeuvre preferee, l'etoffe de base comprend une armure semi-duplex et le cable a multi-filaments (12) est prevu en tant qu'une des couches des deux directions de machine de telles armures et definit une face de l'etoffe de base resultante. Est egalement decrit un feutre presse englobant une etoffe de base comme ci-dessus et le procede de fabrication de tels feutres presses.
