Abstract (en)
This invention concerns an elevator means suitable for the transfer of loads, be such loads in the form either of personnel or other material or goods, from the level to another of a building structure. The invention utilizes rigid guide means for the control of both the speed and direction of movement of the elevator. In the instance of failure of such rigid guide means, further movement of the elevator is precluded. The arrangement of the invention functions without reliance on conventional hoisting means in the form of cables, ropes and the like, thereby effectively precluding the need for the incorporation of sophisticated safety devices adapted to come into operation to stop the elevator in the instance of failure of the earlier-mentioned hoisting means.
