[origin: EP0021089A2] An ergonomic medical requirement for avoiding unnecessary loads during sedentary work is fulfilled by the adaptability to the user of the working and seat surface height. According to the invention this is achieved in that both the desk (1) and the chair (2) are provided in each case with an automatically operating height-adjustment device which can be actuated from a common input part (24) in such a way that, on input of the height of the respective user, the working hand seat surface can be adjusted in each case to the most favourable height in accordance with ergonomic viewpoints. <IMAGE>
