[origin: US4252309A] Apparatus for flipping document sheets such as paper or the like from one side to the other such that the document sheets may be stacked in a hopper in sequenced order after printing or copying on one side or used for printing or copying on both sides. The apparatus includes at least one rotatable cylindrical member having tapered slots disposed therein 180 degrees apart for receiving the leading edge of the sheet to be flipped, and a clamping member which permits the slots to remain open during the sheet insertion, clamp the sheet during rotation of the cylindrical member, and again permits the slots to open at the release point such that the flipped sheet may be released. The location and angle of the slots in the cylindrical member are such the initial force for rotating the cylindrical member is imparted thereto by the entry of document sheet into the slot.

Le dispositif comprend un tambour rotatif (6) présentant deux encoches (18) diamétralement opposées pour recevoir le bord avant des feuilles devant être retournées et un moyen de retenue (11) coinçant la feuille dans l'encoche pendant une partie de la rotation du tambour. La feuille entraînée par les rouleaux (4, 5) pénètre dans l'encoche supérieure (18) et fait tourner le tambour (6). Lorsque celui-ci arrive en position angulaire B, il est entraîné par le rouleau (7) et la feuille est coincée par le coulisseau 11. Quand le tambour (6) a tourné de 180° après la position B, le coulisseau (11) bascule, il dégage la feuille et en même temps coince la feuille qui a été introduite dans la seconde encoche (18).
