1. Device for driving a strip (2), comprising an upper roller (5) mounted at its ends in bearings (52) guided vertically by a frame (3), and drive means (61, 62, 63) for displacing the said bearings (52), and a lower roller (4) mounted at its ends in bearings (42) guided by the frame (3) and each displaced by a hydraulic jack (1) comprising a cylinder (11) and a rod (13) fixed to a piston (12) delimiting a lower chamber (14) connected to a hydraulic circuit, characterized in that it possesses tops (7) limiting the travel of the bearings (52) of the upper roller (5), and in that the jack (1) possesses a ring (16) which slides, on the same side as the rod, in the cylinder (11) under the action of hydraulic means (17, 18) which make it possible to bring the ring into a low position in which it is up against the cylinder and limits the stroke of the piston (12) upwardly to an intermediate position, in such a way that the lower roller (4) is moved away from the upper roller (5) before the strip (2) is engaged.

Un bâti (3) guide des paliers (42-52) montés aux extrémités de deux rouleaux entraineurs (4-5) de manière que les axes (41-51) de ces rouleaux se déplacent relativement dans un plan vertical, le rouleau supérieur (5) étant déplacé par des moyens moteurs (61,62). Les paliers (52) du rouleau supérieur (5) sont appliqués par lesdits moyens moteurs contre des butées fixes (7). Des vérins (1) ont les pistons (12) qui supportent les paliers (42) du rouleau inférieur (4) et qui sont déplacés verticalement par la mise en pression de chambres (14) situées côté fond. Chacun de ces vérins (1) est équipé de moyens (16-17-18) capables de déplacer la fin de course dudit piston (12) vers le haut. Ce dispositif est destiné à être monté à côté d'une enrouleuse de bande dans un laminoir à large bande.
