1. A seal for window frames having an anchoring foot (1) which projects from the centre of a base crosspiece towards one side threof, and two arms (2, 3) which are inclined towards one another and which project from mthe opposite side of the base crosspiece at the ends thereof and are bent towards the base crosspiece by the compressive force acting upon the seal, characterized in that in the cross-section of the seal, the arms (2, 3) have different lengths such that the end portions of the arms (2, 3) overlap in the compressed state of the seal, whereby, by selecting the thickness of the shorter arm (3), which prefereably has a thicker cross-section than the longer arm (2), the contact pressure of the longer arm (2) is selected.

Die Fensterdichtung weist ein U-Profil auf. Der Ankerfuß (1) sitzt am Querschenkel. Die beiden seitlichen Schenkel (2, 3) haben unterschiedliche Länge sowie eine jeweils zum gegenüberliegenden Schenkel gerichtete Krümmung so, daß die Schenkelenden im komprimierten Zustand der Dichtung einander überlappen. Gemäß einer Ausgestaltung ist der kurze Schenkel (3) im Querschnitt dicker als jener des langen Schenkels (2).
