A method for the packing of liquid, pasty and powdery substances, in which a container (1) made of sheet metal is sealed by means of a cover (3) with the aid of a metal sealing ring (6), which is placed inside the cover (3) and which is deformed outwards in the form of a through, so that the cylindrical edge of the cover (3) as well as the corresponding part of the container (1) are deformed outwards and sealed with respect to each other.
