[origin: WO8001458A1] A stabilizing fitting for securely holding an intravenous catheter to a patient's skin at a venipuncture site comprises a laminar base member (10) with an adhesive lower surface (22) and a catheter hub retaining cradle (12) on its upper surface. After insertion of the catheter into a vein and connection to an infusion tube, the catheter hub (36) is pressed into the cradle (12) which locates the hub laterally and longitudinally and the fitting is dabbed onto the patient's skin. Stabilization is then achieved by affixing criss-cross tapes (42) over the assembly.

Un dispositif de maintien pour tenir de maniere sure un catheter intraveineux sur la peau d'un patient en une zone d'injection comprend un organe de base laminaire (10) avec une surface inferieure adhesive (22) et un berceau de retenue de l'embout du catheter (12) sur sa surface superieure. Apres introduction du catheter dans une veine et son raccordement a un tube, l'embout du catheter (36) est insere dans le berceau (12) qui positionne celui-ci lateralement et longitudinalement et le dispositif est applique sur la peau du patient. Le maintien est ensuite obtenu en fixant des bandes adhesives croisees (42) sur le dispositif.
