Abstract (en)

[origin: JPS5611932A] PURPOSE:To composition of polymer such as polyethylene or polyvinyl chloride including a novel compound, i.e., tetramethylpiperidonespiroketal carboxylic derivative in a specific amount as a stabilizer, thus showing improved light stability. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition is produced by adding 0.001-5pts.wt. of at least one of tetramethylpiperidonespiroketal carboxylic derivative of formula I (R1-R3 are H, alkyl; X is -O-, -NH-; m, n are 1 or 2; p is 0 or 1; q is 1-6; Y is residue of mono-hexavalent alcohol, phenyl or amine or residue of partial ester of polyhydric alcohol with carboxylic acid), which is a novel compound and, e.g., the compound of formula II, to 100 parts of a polymer such as polyethylene, polypropylene or polyvinyl chloride. The compound of formula I is obtained by, e.g., esterification of spiroketal that results from reaction between 4-piperidone of formula III and dihydroxyacid of formula IV.
