Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0023660A2] 1. A process for the production of resist effects on blends of polyester and cellulosic fibres, wherein thereon is applied in either order a reactive dyestuff and a paste containing an alkali and a reducing agent, and thereafter the dyestuff is fixed by steaming, which comprises applying to the fibre material a preparation which is adjusted to a weakly acidic pH value and contains either (i) at least one dischargeable reactive dyestuff capable of coloring both of the fibre components or (ii) a mixture of at least one dischargeable reactive dyestuff and at least one disperse dyestuff capable of being converted into a water-soluble anionic form by the effect of alkali, and optionally a neutral fixing auxiliary for reactive dyestuffs, subsequently overprinting the above bottom impregnation with an alkaline discharge resist printing paste containing in addition to the alkali a reducing agent and optionally a non-dischargeable dyestuff, whereupon a fixing operation by means of superheated steam or using saturated steam in combination with hot air is caused, which is followed by a treatment with alkaline agents and another steaming if the aforesaid weakly acidic preparation did not contain the neutral fixing auxiliary.
