[origin: EP0023721A2] Horizontally and diagonally arranged tubes of framework structures, e.g. for roofs of factory halls, are brought together at junction points, which must take up tensile and compressive forces. For this purpose, the ends of the tubes are generally crushed flat and that zone of the tube which is adjacent to the crush zone follows a natural convex shape. During the crushing of the ends, this shape is, according to the invention, made approximately linear (8) by two trapezoidally arranged swages, the deflection strength and buckling strength of the junction thereby being considerably increased. The angle alpha which the two outer surfaces (8a, 8b) with their wedge-shaped taper enclose between them is preferably 20-28 degrees. The arrangement of a junction piece between the crushed-flat ends of the boom members and diagonal braces is particularly expedient, the axes of the diagonal braces thereby meeting at the same point in the axes of the boom members (1); this excludes any eccentricity and prevents any turning moments from arising. <IMAGE>
