Method for the manufacture of cleaving tiles by extrusion of a ceramic mass to a continuous bar (2), standing on edge, which is divided into mouldings (8) at intervals corresponding with the desired tile size by means of knives (6) disposed normal to the direction of transport of the bar at either wide side of it and moving periodically towards each other, after which the mouldings are dried, optionally glazed, fired and finally cleft, this method being characterized in that two knives are used the longitudinal planes of which describe an arc which is opposed to the direction of transport of the bar.
