Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0023932A1] 1. A method of producing smooth textile goods which are very resiliently extensible at least in one direction, from natural fibres such as fibroin, protein or cellulose fibres (silk, wool, cotton) or mixtures of these, characterised by a) very high twisting of yarns of these natural fibres in one direction of twist up to the critical twisting point, fixing in the high-twist position of the yarns by agents acting chemically and brief use of a superelevated temperature and untwisting into the region of the initial twist position of the yarns or beyond in such a manner that the yarns have a powerful untwisting force in the high-twist direction and a powerful rebound force in the longitudinal direction, and b) working up these yarns in the goods in such a manner that the untwisting force of each yarn is taken up by yarns situated in the adjacent region.
