[origin: WO8001759A1] A U-shaped stirrup (3), having two parts, a part (4) supporting the foot and a part (5) forming the brake, is mounted on a base (7) in a fixing hole (19); this stirrup is rockingly mounted about a pin (8) perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the ski. In the channels (12) of the base (7) are arranged two return springs (9) which, when releasing part (4) supporting the foot, rock to the braking position and are fixed in this position. Due to the approximately horizontal arrangement of the return springs, which leads to a sufficient attacking angle between part (4) and the support piece, a low base (9) is provided, though high enough to accomodate the return springs. In the non-braking position, the part (5) forming the brake is arranged within the width of the ski at a certain distance above the upper surface of the ski. Upon passing to the braking position, the arms (5) of the part forming the brake move apart oblically so that they may move adjacent to the edges of the ski.

Un etrier (3) en forme de U, possedant deux parties, une partie (4) soutenant le pied et une partie (5) formant le frein, est monte sur un socle (7) dans un trou de fixation (19); cet etrier est monte basculant autour d'un axe (8) perpendiculaire a l'axe longitudinal du ski. Dans les canaux (12) du socle (7) sont disposes deux ressorts de rappel (9) qui, lors de la liberation de la partie (4) soutenant le pied, basculent dans la position de freinage et se fixent dans cette position. Par la disposition approximativement horizontale des ressorts de rappel, ce qui conduit au maintien d'un angle d'attaque suffisant entre la partie (4) et la piece de soutien, on atteint une hauteur du socle (9) faible, cependant suffisante au logement des ressorts de rappel. Dans la position de non freinage, la partie (5) formant le frein est disposee a l'interieur de la largeur du ski a une certaine distance au-dessus de la surface superieure du ski. En passant a la position de freinage, les bras (5) de la partie formant le frein s'ecartent obliquement de telle facon qu'ils puissent se mouvoir a cote des bords du ski.
