In the vertical continuous casting of non-ferrous metals, a device to suspend and guide vertically a float (6) arranged at the outlet of a downspout tube (3) to control the metal level and distribute the metal in the mould (5), said device comprising on the one hand a vertical guide sleeve (2) surrounding the downspout tube (3) and ending downwards above the highest possible metal level and on the other hand a suspending element (7) attached floating to the guide sleeve (2) and being able to be coupled with the float (6), whereby the lowering of said suspending element (7) is limited by a stop dog (4) fastened to the guide sleeve (2).
