1. Switching mechanism for a protective circuit breaker, in which a control toggle (6) by means of a ratchet lever (5; 25) acts on a resilient contact lever (1; 21), characterised in that the contact lever (1; 21) co-operates movably with a fixed shaft (14), the contact lever being freely suspended, being biased in the contact closure direction under the effect of a contact spring (16), and supporting itself in the closure position on the ratchet lever (5; 25) and on the fixed contact piece 3, that the point of engagement of the contact spring (16) on the contact lever (1; 21) lies between said shaft (14) and the latching point (4, 5), and a separate pivotally-mounted release lever (7; 27) on the one hand acts on the ratchet lever (5, 25) and on the other hand is controllable by the contact lever (1; 21).

Bei dem Schaltmechanismus wirkt ein Bedienungsknebel (6) über einen Klinkenhebel (5) auf einen gefederten Kontakthebel (1) ein. Dabei wirkt der freischwebend angeordnete in Kontaktschließrichtung unter Wirkung einer Kontaktfeder (16) stehende, in Schließstellung am Klinkenhebel (5) und am festen Kontakt (3) sich abstützende Kontakthebel (1) lose mit einer ortsfesten Achse (14) zusammen. Der Angriffspunkt der Kontaktfeder (16) liegt am Kontakthebel (1) zwischen dieser Achse (4) und der Verklinkungsstelle (4). Weiterhin wirkt ein gesondert schwenkbar gelagerter Auslösehebel (7) einerseits auf den Klinkenhebel (5) ein und ist andererseits vom Kontakthebel (1) beeinflußbar.
