[origin: EP0026748A2] The circular knitting machine Zodiac 8 Billi for stockings is provided with four yarn feeds and incorporates other improvements, including two-butt, short-latch needles, and two-butt jacks in the vertical cylinder. A series of horizontal hooks is between the needles, and four systems are provided for the movement of the needles and the jacks. The yarn guides have controlled dropper action, a housing contains cam plates with a gentle paraboloid outline, and the control device for the chain drum has eccentrics with a slight rising action. A further control device governs stitch size using a cam controlled by the drive shaft, and a mechanical device is further provided to unravel the knitted stocking.. The improved machine is very fast, with a high yield. It offers a wide range of stitches and can produce a stocking of reinforced fabric with an elastic hem.
