Apparatus for automatic feeding of rod material (1) to the bending tools (11) of a bending machine for reinforcing concrete stirrups, by using at least one driven pair of coacting feed rolls (6, 7; 25, 26) overlapping the material in a conjugate form, which rolls are guided such that they are shiftable against each another in their plane and can be separated in case of need, and a rod thrower (18) which throws the rod ends perpendicular to the rod axis, characterized in that the feed rolls (6, 7; 25, 26) can be moved apart to such an extent that an exit of the rod material from the rolls' gap in a direction perpendicular to the rolls' plane is enabled, in that the rod thrower (18) is disposed in the range of the rolls' gap and in that before and/or behind the pair of feed rolls (6, 7; 25, 26) straight rod guides (5, 9; 28, 29) are disposed, from which, by means of the rod thrower (18), simultaneously with the enlargement of the roll's gap also a side exit passage can be opened for the rod material.
