A double-action damping device (2) which contributes in a machine to support a movable assembly (1) mounted on a base (19) and which is provided with an elastic absorption system and with a hydraulic, pneumatic or frictional means for damping the active force of oscillations of said movable assembly (1), characterized in that with a relative displacement or a working path of their subassemblies (6, 8) said elastic absorption system and said frictional damping means respectively cause elastic absorption and damping of the active force of oscillations of said movable assembly (1) by removal of energy, which in a curve representing this force of action absorbed and damped by the device in response to the working path of the subassemblies of said device is expressed by the absence of sections of infinite slope which indicate an abrupt transmission of said force of action through the device without a relative displacement of the subassemblies thereof.
