[origin: US4309510A] A sizing composition consisting of a polyvinyl alcohol and of from 1 to 30, preferably 5 to 15, weight %, referred to the polyvinyl alcohol, of an amine oxide of the formula <IMAGE> wherein R1 is C5-C22alkyl, R2 is C1-C22alkyl or a group of the formula-(CH2CH2O)nH with n being an integer of from 1 to 5 and R3 is C1-C5alkyl or a group of the formula-(CH2CH2O)mH with m being an integer of from 1 to 10, if R2 is alkyl having not more than 5 carbon atoms, the sum of n+m being not greater than 10.

Schlichtemittel bestehend aus einem Polyvinylalkohol und 1 bis 30, vorzugsweise 5 bis 15 Gew.%, bezogen auf den Polyvinylalkohol, eines Aminoxids der Formel <IMAGE> wobei R1 C5-C22-Alkyl, R2 C1-C22-Alkyl oder eine Gruppe der Formel -(CH2CH2O)nH, n eine Zahl von 1 bis 5 und R3 C1-C5-Alkyl ist oder R3 ist eine Gruppe der Formel -(CH2CH2O)mH, wenn R2 für eine Alkylgruppe mit mehr als 5 C-Atomen steht und m ist eine Zahl von 1 bis 10, wobei die Summe von n + m nicht größer als 10 ist.
