Abstract (en)
A process for the electroreductive preparation of organic compounds in an undivided cell using at the counter-electrode the oxidation of anions of one or more compounds according to the general formula AB, wherein A represents an alkali or alkaline earth metal moiety, a group of formula N@<1>R<2>R<2>R<4>, wherein each of R<1>, R<2>, R<3> and R<4>, which may be the same or different, represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group of up to 8 carbon atoms, or an (alk)aryl group which may be substituted by one or more lower alkyl groups; or a pyridinium ion which may be substituted by one or more lower alkyl groups and B represents an azide group or a group <CHEM> wherein R<5> represents a hydrogen atom, a group <CHEM> wherein R6 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group of up to 8 carbon atoms or a group A, or a group -CH2OR<7>, wherein R<7> represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group of up to 8 carbon atoms or an (alk)aryl group which may be substituted by one or more lower alkyl groups.
